Sports, Arts see success in Ndumbaro

TANZANIA : SPORTS stakeholders have been complimented and lauded the appointment of Damas Ndumbaro to lead the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, saying they have faith in him to deliver.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced changes in her cabinet on Wednesday when she appointed Ndumbaro as the minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, the position previously held by Pindi China.

Following the changes, Pindi Chana now becomes the Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs as Ndumbaro’s successor.

As Ndumbaro and other appointed ministers set to swear in in the Zanzibar State House on Friday, he said he is thrilled to receive many compliments showing that he has a big task ahead of him to deliver to the stakeholders’ expectations.

The golf fraternity, including the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) and Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) said they were delighted to hear his appointment and they wished Minister Ndumbaro all the best.

TGU chairman Gilman Kasiga said: “Congratulations Minister Ndumbaro! We golfers are proud to have a golfer at the helm of our ministry, whilst TLGU President Queen Siraki added:” It is a dream come true.”

Diplomatic Golf Tanzania also congratulated the minister who plays not only golf, but also soccer, volleyball, basketball, athletics and cycling to mention a few.

Football giants; Simba and Young Africans have also joined the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to congratulate Minister Ndumbaro.

Yanga’s congratulations statement said: “Wananchi wish you all the best in your new roles.”

Singida Fountain Gate also congratulated Minister Ndumbaro and said their club is ready to cooperate with him at any time on all issues related to sports, especially soccer.

Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) General Secretary Filbert Bayi said Ndumbaro is a sportsman so he is the right person to lead the ministry.

The Inter-Ministerial Sports Federation Games (SHIMIWI) said: “We congratulate you Ndumbaro for being appointed by President Samia as the Minister responsible for Sports, we promise to give you cooperation in carrying out your duties.”

UVCCM and CCM Parental Wing Ruvuma Regional: “We congratulate you for being appointed by the President, may God guide you in the implementation of your duties.”

Other congratulations received from Maji Maji Selebuka Festival and Model Mustafa Hassanal who said: “Wishing him all the best as he works to enrich our cultural heritage, support the arts and promote sports for the well-being of our society.”

The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports has congratulated him and promised to cooperate in the execution of his duties: “Welcome to the ministry of happiness. Let the work continue.”

His former Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs complimented him saying: “Leadership and management and employees we express our sincere thanks to your smart leadership for the entire period you were with us as our Minister and we also congratulate you for being trusted by the President to be appointed as the Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports. We wish you all the best in your new office.”
