Vodacom supports Fistula campaign

Speaking in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, the women confessed that there is need for the society to be educated about Fistula, in to help address the problem in the society.

Ms Stella Nasanya condemned the society’s view on Fistula, recalling how everyone, including her relatives, put her away when she was unwell with the condition. “Fistula undermines women’s self-esteem. I personally decided to get medical attention once the condition persisted.

I am now well and my esteem is back, thanks to efforts by the doctors and Vodacom Foundation,” said Nasanya. Ms Nasanya adds that Fistula is greatly associated with curses, witchcraft, or bad luck, with thousands women risking to have their marriages broken one diagnosed with the condition.

However, Yessaya Mwakifulefule, Head of Vodacom Foundation, says that to address this problem, Vodacom shall continue with its commitment, and shall work closely with CCBRT in order to make the process easy to everyone.
