TEA provides equipment to 119 institutions

The plan now, she said, is to construct 30 hostels for girl students at ward secondary schools in chosen areas. She said such support would continue, including equipment for blind students, computers, Braille machines, construction and renovation of school buildings.

She said that between 2011 and 2013, over 1bn/- had been spent on education equipment and distributed countrywide. She said that some institutions that benefited include those in Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro. Manyara and Bariadi.

She said that for 2012/2013, TEA has sought sponsors with the view to procure technology equipment to support students with disability in Open University of Tanzania (OUT) Patandi teachers campus. “This plan will help to increase the number of teachers across the country especially for students with special needs,” she said.
