Spanish IT firm in Dar es Salaam on sales drive

The Barcelona-based Video Stream Networks (VSN), with over 20 years of experience, specialises in the broadcast industry, helping in complete management of TV stations, producers and distributors of audiovisual content workflows.

In their joint business presentation in Dar es Salaam, VSN Sales Directors for Middle East and Asia, Fernando Carrasco and Alvaro Martinez said, “We present the ultimate tool to increase the efficiency of all processes within a TV channel.”

They said their company offers IT solutions on how to plan and manage advertising spots and campaigns, control programming production, document and manage contents.

“The TV channels need the right tools to speed up their processes, keep the control of the scheduling and media content as well as allow real interface between management and technical tools that control the broadcast processes,” said Mr Martinez.

He cited VSNcreatv as a solution of optimising collaborative work between different groups in a transparent and easy way, eliminating tedious and repetitive tasks. Mr Peter Njuguna, the Business Development Manager with Dar es Salaam-based Net-Soft Consult, which hosted the VSN team, described the firm’s business presentation as part of the ground works for the digital broadcasting.

“We have brought them (VSN) to display their technological solutions- and we believe their products would widen options by the local content producers and publishers,” Mr Njuguna told the ‘Daily News’ at the sidelines of the presentations.

Dar es Salaam has maintained its December 31, 2012 deadline for switchover from analogue to digital broadcasting amid experts’ pessimism over the capability of African continent to make it by 2015, the globally agreed date for compulsory switchover.

Although all East African Community member states-Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi- had earlier consented to the December deadline, Kenya has announced their intention to push back the date until they are through with general elections, citing prohibitive cost involved in the new technology.
