Sheriff, who was playing off handicap-9, beat other Division A rivals to secure his second golf title at the club this year.
It was also his second this month. He carded one-under par 71 nett to snatch the mug from March champion Simon Travers who carded 84 nett.
However, handicap-5 Travers had a better score of three-under par 69 when he won the title last month but he could not emulate it this time around.
Sheriff’s April mug win was a follow-up to a solid game that earned him his first title with two under 38 stable ford points at the Creative Studios golf tournament on April 12 this year.
His good performance also saw his handicap chopped to 8. Former AGC golf captain Muzzafar Yusufali, handicap- 10, finished runner-up. He carded level 72 nett to beat handicap 5 Richard Gomes, who won the mug in February, to third place on countback.
Gomes, who established himself as one of the dangerous golfers at the club this year after winning most tournaments, finished with the Lowest Gross Score of 77.
Former Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) secretary Beatus Kasegenya, handicap-15, hit 74 nett to win Division B title.
Second place went to handicap 18 Riyaz Somji on countback over Jay Nathwani, who has the same handicap, after both scored 76 nett. Mussadiq Versi, who was March champion after carding 70 nett, missed the event.
Jamali Mukarram, handicap- 25, captured the Division C title with 80 nett on countback. He grabbed it from last month’s champion Aayush Nathwani, handicap-26, who carded 82 nett.
Handicap-25 Hatim Khanbhai, who also carded 80 nett, finished runner-up on countback.
