Mantra supports Songea tailors

Speaking during a function held in Songea at the weekend, the Mantra Tanzania Managing Director, Mr Asa Mwaipopo, said his company is committed to support various projects that have positive impact on local communities within the region.

Mr Mwaipopo said his company has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Utete Tailoring Mart that will see the tailoring firm sew uniforms for Mantra Staff.

“Mantra Tanzania is committed to support various development projects within Ruvuma. It is on this background that we are today handing over a sewing machine to Utete Tailoring Mart. We believe our donation will go a long way in changing various people’s lives,” he said.

He said funds raised from the project will be used to support other small scale tailors through a ‘revolving fund scheme’ thus calling upon the management of the tailoring mart to make good use of the machine. “Mantra Tanzania today employs about 150 people but the figure will rise to 1,500 when the Mkuju River Project starts. All the staff uniforms will now be made by Utete Tailoring Mart.

The Utete Tailoring Mart leader, Atnas Nyumbi, thanked Mantra Tanzania for the support and pledged to take good care of the sewing machine. “We are so grateful for the support offered to us by Mantra.

The sewing machine will help in perfecting our work and will make work easier for us,” he said. Mantra Tanzania has supported various development projects within Ruvuma Region in various sectors including health, education and environment.
