FBF are among three teams that have pulled out of the event which throws off on Saturday and winds up on July 26, this year. Speaking with the ‘Daily News’ from Dodoma in Tuesday, the Tanzania Amateur Netball Association (CHANETA) Chairperson, Anna Kibira, said the defending champions have confirmed that they will not take part in the event.
“Initially, the national league was scheduled to involve 20 teams but due to the withdrawal of Filbert Bayi, who are the defending champions and other two teams the event will now involve 17 teams,” said Kibira.
She named the other two teams which have withdrawn from the championship as Police Mbeya and Teachers Kinondoni. The trio are all required to give details why they had decided to withdraw from the event.
According to Kibira, all the three teams have only confirmed their withdrawal from the event verbally and they are all required to submit genuine reasons for their decision otherwise, she warned, they will face relegation from Division One.
“The three teams are required to submit details of their reasons for withdrawing from national First Division League and we will discuss them to see if they are genuine and valid or not.
If we find that their reasons are baseless they will face relegation,” said Kibira. Kibira said preparations are going on well and the teams which have confirmed their participation in the event start arriving in Dodoma today ready for the championship.
“One of the two venues of the league is ready and the other will be available by today (yesterday), so everything is going quite smoothly,” she said.
Kibira also said that match officials who will take charge of the league have already been picked by the CHANETA technical committee.
