Speaking at a press conference held in Dar es Salaam, the 2014 MTV Awards nominee said his fans should brace themselves for a rousing performance during the show, which is sponsored by mobile phone company, Vodacom Tanzania.
Diamond, whose soothing voice has made him a phenomenon in and outside the country, said he will perform, among other hit songs, a remix of his hit single ‘My Number One’, which features top Nigerian artist David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name ‘Davido’.
“My fans in Mtwara should expect a highenergy performance. I know there will be a variety in the crowd, but I think I can deliver a performance befitting them.
I promise I will not let them down,” vowed Diamond, who urged music lovers to turn in big number. The star artist recently won two nominations at the prestigious 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) to be held at Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) in South Africa on June 7, this year.
Diamond, who holds eight Kilimanjaro Music Awards, will battle for the Best Male and Best Collaboration in the ‘2014 MTV Africa Music Awards’.
On his part, the Vodacom Tanzania Head of Brand and Communication, Kelvin Twisa, said his company was proud to be part of the show and was optimistic their subscribers will enjoy Friday’s concert.
“We’ll reach and entertain our subscribers wherever they are. Vodacom have operated for over ten years and during all this period they (subscribers) have supported us, making us the leading network,” he said.
He vowed to continue supporting recreational activities and local artists’ efforts to be recognised internationally.
He said fans can purchase their tickets through MPesa by sending money to number 0754980769 and that they will get a 20 per cent discount.
