"The mine has been supporting construction of classrooms and distributing desks during phase II in January, this year and the donation was done through the Maendeleo fund," said Mr Chapman.
He said that NMGM supported schools in Nyangoto, Kewanja, Kerende, Genkuru, Nyamwaga, Nyakunguru and Matongo villages in a bid to boost education. He noted that the schools have 10,131 pupils and are in demand of 3 446 desks. Nyangoto Primary School has 1,057 pupils, Mantare 889, Nyamongo 1,134 - Nybhigena 576, Kerende 874, Genkuru 821, Bung'eng'e 770, Nyaisangero 451, Nyamwaga 917.
Others are Nyakunguru Primary School A 651, Nyakunguru B 520, Nyamichale 233, Matongo 596 and Kenyangi 642. North Mara Gold Mine has been supporting the surrounding communities in various social services such as health, water, road infrastructure and education.
