Mdundo.com Records 31 Million Users in the First Quarter of 2022

African music service platform - Mdundo.com has announced that it recorded 31 million active users across Africa in the first quarter of 2022, representing a 49% growth compared with the previous quarter. Solidifying the platform’s sustained growth trajectory across the continent in the last year.

The company attributes the growth to an ever-increasing demand for easily accessible music among the young population, as well as the strategic partnerships that it continues to enter into with leading Telcos across the continent.

During the quarter the company also grew its advertising partnership footprint, working with leading brands across the continent including; Standard Chartered Bank, East Africa Breweries Limited, Nation Media Group, Airtel, Zenith Bank and 10Bet Africa.

“We continue to witness an increased demand for easily accessible music, especially among the youthful mass-market consumer segment across the continent, it is this demand that is the main driver of our growth. We will keep innovating around finding new ways to engage with this audience.” Rachel Karanu, Head of Brand Partnerships at Mdundo, said.

“Our continued strategic partnerships with leading Telcos in Africa, such as MTN, Vodacom and Airtel, continue to offer us a unique platform to reach our target audience through our tailor-made solutions.” She added.

Nigeria and South Africa registered the biggest quarter-on-quarter growth, recording 8.3 Million and 2.2 Million users, representing 92percent and 80percent growth respectively. Kenya’s user base grew by 46 percent to 5.7 Million users, with Tanzania growing by 10% to 3.9 Million quarterly users. There was also significant growth recorded in South Sudan, Burundi, Congo, Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire.

Apart from offering leading music from around the globe, Mdundo also serves DJ mixes available for free download on the platform. The platform is currently running competitions featuring local DJs in Tanzania and Nigeria.
