ASFC: Yanga to miss seven in Mbao tie

YOUNG Africans have ruled out seven players ahead of their crucial Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) match versus Mbao slated at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza tomorrow.

This was confirmed yesterday by the club's Spokesperson Haji Manara who also declared reasons which have compelled the players not to be part of the squad picked to fulfill the awaiting task whose winner sails into the next phase of the contest.

According to him, those who will miss the game due to injury are Feisal Salum, Denis Nkane and Yusuph Athuman while Ugandan import midfielder Khalid Aucho accumulated three straight yellow cards which disqualify him to play.

Also, Manara said Yannick Bangala and Djuma Shaban are in Bahrain with their DR Congo national team while striker Heritier Makambo has permission from the club to attend to his personal issues.

"All the rest of players are present and fit ready to take on Mbao in a game which will be difficult but we are hopeful that we will earn the deserved victory to go into the next round of the competition," he said.

He further cemented that this year; Yanga's main targets are to win the premier league and ASFC titles plus successfully registering their members across the country electronically.

Last season, Yanga marched all the way into ASFC finals but surrendered the battle after losing 1-0 to the current defending champions Simba hence they need to make a breakthrough this time around.

For Mbao who trade in the First League, they already expressed their happiness to face Yanga at their backyard and believe that they can do wonders by stamping good results and proceed into the next stage.

Initially, the encounter was pegged at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city but hosts Yanga opted to transfer the battle to Mwanza in order to give their fans a full packed entertainment.

In his remarks recently, Mbao owner Ammy Ninje described facing Yanga at Kirumba Stadium as good news to them saying they have received the development wholeheartedly.

"Let me thank Yanga and the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) for conceding to the changes and it is an advantage to us to believe that we can do wonders on the day by winning the match and progress into the next round," he said.

He added that the only difference between the two sides is finance capabilities, saying Yanga are far much better than them but in terms of footwork on the pitch, 90 minutes of play will be a good judge.

The match will revive tense memories which used to unfold at CCM Kirumba venue when Mbao was parading in the premier league as they were giving tough moments to giant teams Simba and Yanga.
