Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Ashatu Kijaji has issued a three-day ultimatum to the Fair Competition Commission (FCC) to give reasons for the shortage of soft drinks in the country.

She has also issued a seven-day ultimatum for the Commission to explain reasons for hiked prices of building materials.

Speaking to the Ministry’s staff in Dodoma Monday, Minister Kijaji said prices of soft drinks have recently hiked because the products are scarce in the market. 

“Within three days, I want a report detailing reasons for scarcity of soft drinks. Also I give you another seven days to come up with a report detailing reasons for hiked prices of building materials,” Trade Minister tasked the Commission. 

 She added that it was a responsibility of the Commission to go public to tell wananchi reasons for such trends.
