Sasii sees Dar Derby gathers storm

FIFA badged referee Herry Sasii has expressed his happiness for the honour to officiate the Dar es Salaam Derby between Simba and  Young Africans this Saturday.

The two sides meet in a record making and breaking game at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam battling for vital three points to cement their race for the league’s title.

Speaking recently in Dar es Salaam, Sasii disclosed that this is going to be his third Dar es Salaam Derby to be in charge as the centre referee hence; he is happy for the trust.

Again, he also revealed that his first Premier League match was between Ndanda and Coastal Union in Mtwara in 2016-17 season while his first derby to officiate was a Community Shield game between Simba and  Yanga that opened the 2017/18 season.

He was also selected to officiate the high profile game between Simba against Spanish giants Sevilla FC at the same venue in the city in 2019 and Sevilla won 5-4.

Sesii was paraded on Monday evening by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) alongside other 14 officials who will perform different tasks to ensure smooth flow of the game.

He will be assisted by Kassim Mpanga (Dar es Salaam) and Hamdani Saidi (Mtwara). The 4th official will be Ahmada Simba (Kagera) while Soudi Abdi (Arusha) will serve as Referee Assessor.

Match Commissioner will be Hosea Lugano (Lindi), Protocol Officer Jacqueline Kamwamu (Dar es Salaam), Security Officer Hashim Abdallah (Dodoma), Marketing Officer Fredrick Masolwa (Dar es Salaam) while Media Officer will be Clifford Ndimbo.

Norman Sabuni (Dar es Salaam) will serve as the Match Doctor, Centre Supervisor is Msanifu Kondo (Dar es Salaam) and Assistant General Coordinator 2 is Herieth Gilla (Dar es Salaam).

Furthermore, Assistant General Coordinator 1 is  Jonathan Kassano (Dar es Salaam) whereas General Coordinator tasks will be performed by Baraka Kizuguto (Dar es Salaam).

However, as the clock ticks for the explosive match, Yanga have declared that they are progressing well with preparations and that until now, none of their players are on the injury list.

The two sides meet at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam for the first time this campaign in the ongoing NBC Premier League.

Both teams enjoy unbeaten run so far after playing seven games of which the hosts Simba have managed to win five matches and stamped two draws to produce 17 points.

Their opponents Yanga, from seven games, they have claimed six wins including one draw and have  carved 19 points to stay afloat at the top of the pyramid.
