GP Pak Stars win Nyerere T30 Cricket title

GP Pak Stars emerged the Mwalimu Nyeyere League T30 Cricket champions after defeating Agha Khan Sports Club (AKSC B) by four wickets at the Gymkhana oval in Dar es Salaam over the weekend .

It was a colourful final with two strong contestants vying for the title organised by the Tanzania Cricket Association to honour Mwalimu Nyerere’s life, who is the father of the nation.

The High Commissioner of Pakistan, Mohamed Salim graced the final ceremony in  the tournament sponsored by GP Petroleum. From its start on October 31st, the cricket marathon climaxed on Sunday.

On the score, AKSC B bagged 120 runs in 30 allocated overs, whereas the champions successfully chased the target in 24.6 overs. Following the victory, Ayaz Mustafa of GP Pak Stars was named the man of the match.

Besides GP Pak Stars clinching the silverware, there were few individual awards for outstanding performance; among the players were Dhrumit Mehta, who was named player of the series.

Athumani Kakonzi won the best batsman; the best bowler award was handed to Dhaval Patel of the Patel Brotherhood.

Meanwhile, the Dar es Salaam Cricket Association has issued a transfer and registration procedure for the coming season.

The transfer window for the upcoming season was opened on December 1st and climax on December 15th December this year.

The TCA press release highlighted the following points for all players (seniors and U19's).

First, it revealed that the player obtains a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from his existing club dated on or before December 15th for any transfer. Insisting no transfers will be accepted for any player for a NOC issued after 15th December 2021.

It proceeded that the player can then submit the NOC to DC by email at dc@tanzaniacricket.com directly or through his new club at any time. All NOC must be received before December 15th, any

NOC received after December 15th will be considered invalid and rejected even if it's dated before the deadline date.

The NOC player only gets tied up with his new club once he has played at least one official game.

In a situation where the Player and Club disagree over the NOC for the player, the player has an option to inform DC by email dc@tanzaniacricket.com or by text message to any DC committee member before December 15th, to register his case. DC shall acknowledge the same and provide mediation after the transfer processes are complete.

Any player who has not played a single game for their club in the year 2021 is given a “Free agent" status. Hence, under this rule, the player can register himself to any club in the DC leagues at any point without requiring the NOC.

New players can be registered anytime during the year, provided notice is sent to DC by email dc@tanzaniacricket.com 48hrs before any league game.

A player registration list indicating the residential status of each player and playing commitment of at least two years should be submitted to DC for approval by January 15th next year in the required format.
