PM Majaliwa issues warning on price hiking of building materials

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has said there are no grounds for hiking prices of building materials during execution of the second phase of the construction of permanent buildings of all ministries in Dodoma Capital.

The Premier added that some unfaithful traders may hike prices of materials, citing the mega Dodoma project as the reason.

Hiking of prices because of the project was unacceptable, according to Mr Majaliwa as he insisted; “there is no need to hike prices of materials just because the government is constructing 24 buildings. This is unacceptable.”

After laying a foundation stone for the project in the capital city, PM tasked the Ministry for Industry and Trade to meet immediately with local industry owners to contemplate how to increase production of building materials in order to curb the shortage of materials and hiking of prices.

However, the Premier directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to collaborate with his office with the purpose of regulating procurement prices of building materials.
