Pablo machinery rewards Simba

SIMBA displayed attacking minded football as they defeated Ruvu Shooting 3-1 in their sixth round fixture of the NBC Premier League at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza on Friday.

The new tactical approach was too rewarding to Simba and their newly-recruited Spanish coach Pablo Franco who seems to be parading a highly-disciplined play, hard-working and solid team-work approach whose fruits were three goals in the first 45 minutes of a play.

His first appearance at the Simba’s technical bench brought Simba a threegoal fortune, the highest number of goals Simba have netted in the early rounds of this season.

But on contrary to the club’s 90- minute success, one goal Simba conceded stained Aishi Manula’s 521-minute clean-sheet.

Manula should blame Elias Maguri who scored Ruvu Shooting’s consolation goal in the 71st minute. First half goals from Meddie Kagere and Kibu Dennis were enough to hand Simba the convincing victory.

Playing before the packed Kirumba Stadium, Simba looked determined to win right from the start. Rwandan international Meddie Kagere put Msimbazi outfit ahead in the 17th minute after he connected corner from Bernard Morison.

Morrison’s freekick in the 32nd minute was blocked by Ruvu Shooting defender and a minute later, Ruvu Shooting got their first corner of the match, but goalie Manula saved it for a fruitless corner.

Kagere who was in great form, scored the second goal and his fourth in this season campaign after taping home a rebound from Ruvu Shooting goalie Mohamed Makaka in the 36th minute. Dennis Kibu opened his goal account in the 44th minute when he netted the third goal for Simba.

He scored from a cross sent by Shomari Kapombe from the right flank and the ball flicked Kagere before Dennis scored just inside the box. Kagere’s shot in the 54th minute just went off target and later his header in the 57th minute also went wide.

In the 68th minute, Simba’s Head Coach Pablo Franco made changes by introducing Ousmane Sakkho who replaced Mzamiru Yassin who limped off with knee injury. Later Erasto Nyoni came in for Meddie Kagere.

In the 70th minute Ruvu Shooting scored their consolation goal through Elias Maguri following a good throw in ball from midfielder Shabaan Msala. In 71th minute Erasto Nyoni lost a penalty kick, a rare occasion in his career.

Simba were awarded a penalty after Ruvu defender fouled Kibu Dennis inside the box.

In the 85th minute, Franco made another substitution this time he benched off Bernard Morison and introduced Malawian international, Duncan Nyoni. In the injury time Dennis wasted a golden chance when he was left one on one with goalie Makaka.

The win placed Simba at the second position with 14 points, a point inferior to the leaders Young Africans. Tanzania Prisons ended Mbeya Kwanza’s unbeaten run following their 2-1 win in the action-packed Premier League match staged at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Sumbawanga early on Friday.

The victory brought relief to Prisons as they were winless in their past five matches after drawing in two matches and losing three others. Coastal Union defeated Polisi Tanzania 1-0 at Ushirika College ground in Moshi, Kilimanjaro.
