HOSTS Kagera Sugar failed to maximize the home ground allowing a late goal that enabled Singida United to collect a point in a 1-1 draw.
In a thrilling Mainland Premier League match at the Kaitaba Stadium, striker Ramadhan Kapera opened scorer for Kagera after half an hour mark, through a spot kick after mate Ally Ramadhan was brought down inside the box.
Kagera started the game aggressively, launching several dangerous balls but inept finishing cost them the much needed victory. Japhet Makarai saw his close range kick in the 6th minute missing the target narrowly.
Again, Behewa Behewa also missed an open goal in the 12th minute, when he had custodian Ali Mustapha of Singida at his mercy.
Singida also wasted a golden chance in the 35th minute, when Kenny Ally unleashed a bullet that was punched by custodian Said Kipao of Kagera Sugar to an abortive corner.
Singida United Head Coach, Shadrack Nsajigwa made substitution in 85th minute retiring Thomas Mdam in favour of Nizar Khalfan, who scored the equliser in the dying minutes of the game.
Speaking after the match, Nsajigwa was the happiest man. “We played well in the second half. Veteran Nizar Khalfan made the important decision following my instructions,” he said.
Kagera Sugar Head Coach, Mecky Maxime, on the other hand, conceded that his boys made mistakes in the second half allowing Singida players to mount attacks that eventually resulted in the 1-1 draw.
At the Nyamagana Stadium in Mwanza, resurgent Alliance FC produced an upset of the day, beating Mtibwa Sugar 1-0, to maintain their ascendency in the league table.
The solitary goal was netted by Dickson Ambundo in the 54th minute after connecting a cross from Michael Chinedu.
At the Mwadui Complex, hosts Mwadui FC snatched a 1-0 win over Lipuli FC with Jean Marie Gurukwishoka netting the winner in the 29th minute through a spot kick, which was awarded to the Lipuli defender fouled Elias Lucian bundled down midfielder, Abdallah Seseme in the box.
In another match, Coastal Union beat Ndanda FC 1-0 at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga, at Karume Stadium in Musoma, Biashara United were held to a barren draw by visitors Tanzania Prisons, while Ruvu Shooting recovered from a recent slump to win 2-1 over Stand United at the Mabatini ground in Mlandizi, Coast Region.
