Govt clarifies stand on gays, lesbians

THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation on behalf of the United Republic of Tanzania would like to notify to the international community through the local and international media on its stance on gays and lesbians aired in the city by Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner (RC) recently.

On the note, the press conference with the media, where the person in question expressed a campaign to fight gay and lesbian acts in the city, is sheer personal.

For that matter, the government of the United Republic of Tanzania would like to express that the campaign motive is still a personal stance and not the State’s.

Equally, the government would like to make it clear, remind and stress that it would continue respecting all international contracts on human rights it signed and adopted.

The government will continue protecting the rights as enshrined in the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania. Released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation in Dodoma.
