Tycoon Dewji kidnapped, Police mounts search

Renowned Dar es Salaam tycoon businessman, Mohamed Dewji has been kidnapped in Dar es Salaam today in wee hours by people yet to be identified.

However, according to Dar es Salaam Regional Police Commissioner (RPC), Lazaro Mambosasa, Mr Dewji was kidnapped by two white men who have not been arrested, and already three people have been nabbed in the act and helping Police in the investigations.

The businessman was kidnapped while preparing to enter in a gym with the possibility that they knew his routine and ambushed him at Colosseum Hotel after disembarking from his car.

In the struggle to highjack him, they reportedly shot once in the air according to an eye witness, hence, a serious police trail has been launched including illegal foreigners living in the country.

Investigation over the abduction of richest businessman in the country, Mohamed Dewji alias Mo Dewji is underway, Police say.

On his side Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner (RC), who also doubles as the regional Security Committee Chairman, Mr Paul Makonda no stone would be left unturned until the businessman is taken alive from his captives.

Different people and leaders took to the social media on Thursday morning to break the news that the businessman was abducted in Dar es Salaam at Collesium Hotel as he was preparing to enter to the gym.

Dewji is famous investor in Tanzania and has invested 20bn/- in Simba Sports Club, the defending Champions in the local Premier League.

Last year, Dewji was ranked at 20th in the list of richest people in East Africa and Africa at large.
