THE ninth season of Bongo Star Search (BSS) competition is set to take-off from September 22nd this year, with the National Art Council (BASATA) urging participants to come up with songs containing constructive messages.
BASATA Acting Secretary General, Onesmo Kayanda recommended on industrialisation, relocation of government capital to Dodoma, promotion of tourist attractions and the fight against HIV/AIDS to be among key messages.
“It is because messages through songs do quickly reach the audience all over the country. Artistes are very important in delivering messages because they play various roles at once.
People do listen the music as part of entertainment but at the same time getting the message from the composer,” Kayanda said yesterday during the BSS launch in Dar es Salaam.
The Competition which is jointly to be run by Star Media (T) Limited and Benchmark 360 Limited will involve Mwanza, Arusha, Mbeya and Dar es Salaam regions.
Only 10 participants are needed from each region with exceptional of Dar es Salaam which will produce 20 participants because it accommodates high population of artists, said the Benchmark Executive Director, Rita Paulsen.
