President John Magufuli has appointed Ambassador Dr Aziz Mlima as a new Tanzanian envoy to Uganda.
Prior to his appointment Dr Mlima, served as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, East Africa, Regional and International Cooperation
A statement issued by the State House says President Magufuli will swear-in the newly appointed diplomat later today at Chamwino in Dodoma Capital City.
Who is Dr Mlima?
According to Eac African Community (EAC) website, the newly appointed envoy is an Economist by training specialized in development, diplomacy and peace building as the Personal Assistant and Economic Advisor to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania (2005-2013).
Dr Mlima has worked closely with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the World Bank and other International Organisations.
The married and father of four holds a PhD in Economics and a MSc. in Agro-Economics.
The website attributes that Dr Milima has authored numerous papers and consulted for both the public and private sectors in Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, East Africa, Regional and International Cooperation in December 2015, Dr Mlima served as High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federation of Malaysia.
