AZAM FC yesterday announced the termination of the contract of their Ghanaian striker Yahaya Muhamed who served as the team’s main hitman this season.
Addressing members of media in the city, the club’s Communications Officer, Jaffar Idd said the club has seen it necessary to part ways with Muhamed after a mutual agreement between the two parties.
“Let me take this chance to inform you that Yahaya Muhamed is no longer a member of our team and he expects to leave the country today (yesterday) for his native country Ghana,” Idd said.
He added: “Azam will surely miss the service of Muhamed who was an instrumental during the Mapinduzi Cup tournament held in Zanzibar. He was also the first player to open our team’s goal account for this season.”
However, the club’s communications boss said series of injuries sustained by the Ghanaian import put him out of form this term. “The management of Azam is now looking for Muhamed’s replacement who can come either within or outside the country provided he is able to score goals for the team,” Idd said.
“We want to wish him (Yahaya Muhamed) all the best in his football career wherever he will get the chance to play,” said Idd.
Meanwhile, the Ice-cream makers team continue with training sessions ahead of their next league match against Njombe Mji after the end of FIFA international week.
