GIANTS; Azam, Simba and Young Africans likely to renew rivalry in Zanzibar, as all three will participate in 2018 Mapinduzi Cup kicking off from late December to early January in Zanzibar.

The three, all top placed in Tanzania Mainland Premier League, join other seven teams that qualified to play in the tournament alongside a team from outside Tanzania.

The tournament’s coordinator, Khamis Abdalla Said said the preparations for the tournament are on a top gear ahead of its official opening in late December.

Apart from the three Tanzania Mainland big guns, there are four teams from Unguja and two from Pemba to feature in the tournament, according to the coordinator. From Unguja there are JKU, Zimamoto, Taifa ya Jang’ombe and Mlandege while Shaba and Jamhuri will represent Pemba Island.

Additionally, the coordinator said one team from either Kenya or Uganda will be unveiled later as the 10th participant. The tournament’s finals after its official start in the last weekend of December, will be on January 13, a day after the country marks the Isles Revolution Day (Mapinduzi).

Said lauded the tournament’s organising committee for a good job in making sure the tournament end with a desired success.

The organising committee members are the Chairper son Sharifa Khamis, her Vice Chairman, Gulam Rashid, Secretary, Khamis Abdalla Said and members Issa Mlingoti Ali, Dk. Ally Saleh Mwinyikai, Ali Khalil Mirza, Khamis Mzee Ali, Ravia Idarous Faina, Ali Mohammed, Mohammed Ali Hilali (Tedy) and Juma Mmanga.
