Dodoma to host Shimmuta games

THIS year's Inter-Parastatal and Non-Parastatal games will be held in Dodoma in November, this year. Secretary of the games, Award Safari said yesterday that the competition famous known as Shimmuta has so far attracted 45 teams from Parastatal, Private Companies and Institutions.

He said the venue was decided during the two-executive committee meeting held in Dar es Salaam over the weekend. Safari said the executive committee agreed to add three games namely athletics, basketball and volleyball. Traditionally, the games which were competed for in the games are soccer, netball, darts, tug of war, bao, playing cards, draft and pool table.

Moreover, he said, this year they have invited two teams from the Isles namely Zanzibar State Trading Corporation, Zanzibar Port Authority, Tembo Hotel and Serena Hotel.

Other teams from the Mainland lined up for the competition are Clouds Entertainment, Industrial Promotion Products (IPP), TTCL, Mzinga Corporation, Dodoma University, Open University, NIT, University of Dar es Salaam, Ardhi Institute, Chai Bora, Mgololo Paper Mills and Mzumbe University.

Others are Alliance One Tobacco, TTPL, College of Business Education, IFM, CDA-Dodoma, Tanzania Ports Authority, NEMC, Tanzania Posts Corporation, Sokoine University, Moshi University, AICC, DIT, Ngorongoro Crater, PSPF, NHIF, RANAPA, NSSF, NMB, BOT,NBC, Vodacom, Tigo, Airtel, TBL, SBL and Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC).

However, all teams have to confirm their participation before October 31. Last year's games were held in Tanga whereby Ngorongoro Crater were winner in soccer and tug of war in men category, while CDA-Dodoma made it in the female category in netball and tug of war disciplines.
