Sports seen as pillar to best performance in many sectors

STANDARD Chartered Bank - Tanzania Limited has termed sports as an integral pillar that supports its brand promise, which wants the banks' employees to be there for good.
This was said by Standard Chartered Bank Head of Corporate Affairs Juanita Mramba, during the bank's 2012 sports day held at Heaven of Peace sports grounds in Dar es Salaam at the weekend.
"This is a very important event for us because as Standard Chartered Bank we want to stay here for good and through sports, we will be able to stay healthy and achieve a work life balance.
“Such events that brings together our family members, also helps us to know each other better and hence nourishing the team work, which helps us to achieve great things even in the banking sector," she said.
Speaking during the same occasion, the bank's Acting Chief Executive Officer, Theobald Sabi, said sports helps employees of his bank to have a sound health which helps them to achieve their goal of serving their customers well.
"Standard Chartered Bank of Tanzania decided to have this special day for sports whereby workers and their families are joined together to participate in different games. This helps them to stay upright even at workplace," he said.
During the day, participants engaged in a number of sports activities which included volleyball, basketball, football, chicken race, relay, swimming, dancing, egg on spoon race and sack race. The family that won the chicken race walked away with three chicken, while on other games, trophies and medals were awarded.
