YOUNG Africans Elections Committee has axed former midfielder Ally Mayay from the race to contest for the Vice-Chairman post at the July 15 elections.
Sources said that Mayay has been dropped from the race allegedly after failing to attend a hearing on a protest lodged against him by a club member.
Chairmanship aspirant Yusuf Manji, who attended the hearing, has been cleared. The committee had received objections against two chairmanship aspirants, including the renowned businessman, Manji and Sarah Ramadhani.
There were also objections against the candidacy of three vice-chairman aspirants namely, Yono Kevella and Clement Sanga, who have been cleared except for Mayay.
However, on Tuesday the committee’s Chairman John Mkwawa urged the five candidates and members who lodged objections to attend the hearing, but noted that his committee could go ahead to discuss the objections and pass decisions in the absence of concerned individuals.
