AFTER several years of lull, the Southern Highlands Open golf tournament has resurfaced and is expected to take place from Saturday and Sunday at the Mufindi Club in Iringa.
Tanzania Golf Union (TGU), Administrative Official Sophie Nyanjera said on Tuesday that the order of merit event is open to both ladies and gentlemen with a certified Congu handicap. “The 36 holes stroke play competition will be used to determine order of merit for all the divisions that will be announced at the end of the year.
She said entry fee for the event is 30,000/- of which 5,000/- will go towards the development of junior golf foundation. Nyanjera further said that various prizes will be up for grab, saying there will be prizes for two net winners and two gross winners for division A (handicap 0-9).
Similar prizes will be offered to division B (handicap 10-18), division C (handicap 19-28) ladies and juniors each of which will have two winners. There will also be first round winner of 18 holes and winner of the second round of another 18 holes, saying further that no player is eligible to win more than one prize.. She said tomorrow is the deadline to register for the competition.
