UKONGA Kings’ pointer, Ally Hashim, has jumped to the top of the Regional Basketball League (RBA) scorers as the league rolls into 11th week this weekend.
The report issued by the Technical and Competition Director, Haleluya Kavalambi, shows that the little known pointer has so far netted 203 points to beat the previous leaders, Sylvain Yunzu of Savio who has dropped further to the third position, while Oilers’ Eric Lugora has remained second with 202 points.
Dropped to two positions, Yunzu, however, is not far from the leaders after posting 195 total points. His team mate Fred Seba, who is seventh placed praised his colleague, saying he has been playing a great game.
“He’s playing with great confidence and making the plays for his team to win games. He’s been great,” said Seba. Fourth overall until the end of the tenth week is Abuto Biko of Pazi who has posted 183 points, he is followed by Kurasini Heat’s player, Yassin Choma, who has raked in 181 points.
Vijana City Bulls’ Mwalimu Kijogoo is placed 6th with 173 points, beating Fred Seba of Ukonga Kings by 12 points. Savio player, Amin Juma comes as 8th-placed player and followed by David Kilimbe of Mabibo Bullet who has scored 154 points. Yunzu, who has claimed the lead for five weeks, however, is far from beaten in the three-point masterly.
Yunzu has netted three pointers 43 times followed by Erick Lugora who has managed only 27 times. Third is Frank Majura of Oilers who has also netted 27 times while the fourth placed Godfrey Mlagira of Ukonga Kings has 20 three-pointers.
Fifth overall in the standings is Dominic Zakaria of Kurasini Heat with who has done it 19 times ahead of two Vijana City Bulls players, Anthony Jeikanga and Jacob Marenga who have each converted 17 times.
Other best three-pointers were Ally Mnyamani who has netted 16 times and Trofimo Che Mundugwao of Magnet who has also managed it 16 times. Mabibo Bullets’ Frank Mwemezi continues to lead in rebound catches for the 10th week now.
The player has 109 rebounds followed by Rashid Yakub of Ukonga Kings with 91 rebounds. Mwalimu Kijogoo of Vijana City Bulls is third 88 rebounds and has tied with Nelo Levene of Outsiders. Ukonga Kings’ Derick is fifth with 85 rebounds, beating the sixth-placed Abdulkadri Mtambo of DB Young Stars with 84 rebounds.
The Ladies discipline has continued to be commanded by Imelda Hango of Vijana Queens who is leading with unassailable 142 points. Faraja Mhoamiso of Jeshi Stars is second with 107 points, while third overall is Lulu Masana of JKT Stars, who has notched 94 points.
Vijana’s Khadija Kalambo is fourth with 89 points. It is Khadija Kalambo at the helm when it comes to threepoint masterly. The Vijana Quens’ pointer has so far netted 14 three-pointers followed by Oryne Londo of DB Lioness with 9 while the third-placed Amina Mohamed also from DB Lioness has netted it 6 times.
