A MASSIVE 5-0 victory stamped by Mzalendo team over Mnadani FC heralded the official reopening of Nyamagana Stadium yesterday.
The goal-infested match, despite opening the stadium for public uses, also launched the regional Third Division League kick-off at the same venue.
Mzalendo goals were netted by Frank Moshi in the 26th minute, Bruda Mapashe sealed a brace in the 30th and 40th minutes, while Boniphace Matabula added the fourth in the 85th minute of the game.
Mzalendo netted their fifth goal in the 88th minute through Frank Magambo. The Nyamagana District’s Legislator, Stanislaus Mabula, who graced the Stadium reopening also launched officially the third division league.
He congratulated Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and the government for their joint efforts in the installation of the artificial turf on the pitch of the historic stadium.
Adding, Mwanza’s Deputy Mayor, Bhiku Kotecha advised the Mwanza regional Football Association (MZFA) to have a good fixture in the good use of the stadium. He urged football stakeholders to use the ground wisely for future benefits.
He also warned that people should not destroy the stadium infrastructure because the city council has a foolproof security system to guard the stadium.
MZFA Chairman Vedastus Lufano said the ground will now be used for regional tournaments league and he said players should use the ground effectively.
The Mwanza regional league will be played daily in Nyamagana stadium and in other grounds in Misungwi, Magu and Sengerema districts.
