DEPUTY Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (Regional Administrative and Local Government) Mr Aggrey Mwanri has ordered Municipal and District Executive Directors to work on public servants' complaints, including paying them their debts to avoid unnecessary strikes and demonstrations.
Mr Mwanri gave the order while closing a four-day course to new appointed Municipal and District Executive Directors in Morogoro, where he said officials can help in reducing workers strike.
He said workers strike and demonstration can be avoided if the responsible people will play their part by listening to workers problems and work on them appropriately. Mr Mwanri has also said that all workers who will be found embezzling public funds will face legal action.
"Since the Government is losing a lot of money because of leaders who are not careful in their positions, now they will not be spared," he said.
"The Government will not shift embezzlers to other stations as it used to be the case before, this time anyone who will be found to have squandered public funds will face the court of law," he said.
One of the participants, Mr Reuben Mfune (Ruangwa DED) told reporters that during the four days training, they learnt much on how to supervise government funds and making sure the expected projects are implemented.
He said most of the challenges facing District Councils include poor management of funds, but after attending the course they are expected to manage the funds properly in order to bring benefit to the Government and to the society. A total of 43 Municipal and District directors have completed the four days course at Morogoro region.
