United Arab Emirates donates food

THE Embassy of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Tanzania has donated food items to Muslims fasting in different regions in the country. The donation was provided by two institutions in the UAE, which are the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zaid Al Nahyan for Humanitarian Aid and Red Crescent Society of the UAE.

Ambassador Maalallah Mubarak Suweid said the donation cost over 35m/- and was channelled through the Institute of Dhi-Nureyn Islamic Foundation based in Iringa.

The Secretary General of the Institute, Sheikh Shams Elmisaid said the donation included 500 boxes of dates and a variety of foods stuff. Sheikh Elmi thanked the UAE embassy for their support which has largely focused in rural areas where by a big number of Muslims lack some money to buy foods and dates during the fasting period.

He encouraged Muslims in this blessed month of Ramadhan to take care of the poor, disabled and sick people. Sheikh Elmi said fasting during the month of Ramadan, as laid down in the holy Qur'an is the fourth pillar of the faith.
