THE funeral details for the departed Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) staff member- Ms Rose Massa Athumani- have been announced.
According to the T-bone TSN Deputy Managing Editor (DME), Ms Tuma Abdallah, the requiem mass will be held today at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) from 11 am with Roman Catholic Church leaders leading the service.
Having mourners paid their last respects to Rose, the last journey to her Uchira home village in Moshi Rural, Kilimanjaro Region will begin where she will be laid to rest on Monday. Rose, one of the most dependable reporters for the Daily News, passed away on Wednesday evening at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) where she was undergoing treatment.
She was rushed to the national hospital on Tuesday after complaining of severe chest pains, prompting doctors to recommend that she had to be admitted for thorough check up and treatment.
However, she passed away on Wednesday evening. Rose, who joined TSN on August 2009, was a senior reporter and editor for the Woman Magazine, which is a ‘Daily News’ pullout published every Thursday. She was born on September, 26, 1976 in Kilimanjaro Region.
Rose graduated from the Tanzania Institute of Journalism (now the Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication of the University of Dar es Salaam). She also pursued her studies at the University of Maine in the United States.
Before joining TSN, Rose worked with Mwananchi Communications (MCL) as a reporter. Prior to that she worked with Radio Tanzania-Dar es Salaam. She passed as an intern at the Business Times Limited (Majira). TSN regrets to lose her, given her excellent performance and dedication to work.
