AIR Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) has leased a Boeing 737-500 plane that is expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.
A statement issued by the company on Wednesday said the 108-seater plane has been leased from Aero Vista Dubai and has already undergone airworthiness tests by a team of experts from the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) in Cairo, Egypt. The statement further said that the aircraft was flown to Cairo from Dubai last week.
“TCAA experts have completed inspection of the plane in Cairo and the plane will fly in tomorrow (today),” the statement said. It further said that the plane that has already been branded with ATCL corporate colours is configured to carry 12 passengers in the business as well as 96 passengers in the economy class.
Speaking to reporters in Dar es Salaam a few days ago, ATCL Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Chizi promised that the company will acquire new planes as part of strategic plans to compete in the cut-throat market. He noted that the acquisition of the aircraft was a short-term measure to enhance the company’s service delivery and added that long-term plans are to lease more planes.
The company recently launched a website in order to improve customer service delivery as well as boosting the national flag carrier’s efficiency. The website enables customers to book online.
