THE Tanzania Standard (Newspapers) is set to launch a newly designed website on Sunday, in a move aimed to extend its readership and keep abreast with latest developments in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The launching of the website, www.dailynews.co.tz, comes after a detailed research on the commercial sector and comprise innovative and technical aspects of the IT, in designing, advertising and sales.

Besides keeping readers alert on daily events, the website also intends to boost business-related activities by providing advertisement services for small and large firms as well as individuals.

The TSN Acting Managing Editor, Mr Mkumbwa Ally, noted that the world was changing by embracing inventive technologies hence transforming the Website was the only way to ensure that the company was not left behind.

He urged Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to effectively utilize the website by advertising and promoting their business in Tanzania's leading online edition.

"We want to maintain our market leadership in the media industry and remain the best media house in the country by providing up-to-date, well-researched and public interest news...and above all, the best online advertising medium," Mr Mkumbwa said.

The TSN Webmaster, Mr Richard Kazimoto, said that the new website was designed basing on contemporary technologies with social networks integration.

He said that social network integration would allow readers to share stories with friends on social networks such as facebook and twitter thus making it more interactive.

He noted that the website would be mobile ready, meaning that whether it would be smartphones, iPhones or an iPad, the website would automatically detect screen-sizes and adjust page elements and layout to fit respectively.

The new website would facilitate polls and podcasting through videos and audios. Other features of the new website include weather forecasting from Google and Yahoo.
