    A TOTAL of 1,512 (44.3 per cent) candidates who sat for the National Accountancy examinations in thirteen examination centres in the country have failed their examinations while 854 (25 per cent) passed.

    According to the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) Executive Director, Mr Pius Maneno, 268 candidates qualify to be awarded the profession of completion of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) programme.

    The results were released on Thursday in Dar es Salaam by NBAA and show that out of 3,414 candidates who sat for the examinations, 626 (18.3) per cent candidates were referred.

    Mr Maneno further said that 422 (12.4per cent) candidates were re-referred. The successful candidates make a total of 3,876 successful CPA holders since the board examinations became operational in May 1975.

    Mr Maneno also noted that the overall candidates' performance of 25 per cent in this examination compares favourably with the overall pass rate of 22.2 per cent recorded in 2010.

    The results also show that, the Foundation Stage Module A, 36 (44.4 per cent) out of 81 candidates passed their examination while 17 (21.0 per cent) have been referred and 21(25.9 per cent) have been re-referred and total of 7(8.6 per cent) failed their examination.

    Whereby in Module B of the Foundation Stage 62 (53.0 per cent) out of 117 candidates passed and 34 (29.1 per cent) have been referred while 18 (15.4 per cent) re-referred and 3 (2.6 per cent) failed.

    In Intermediate Stage Module C examinations 37 (29.8 per cent) out of 124 passed, 21 (16.9 per cent) referred while 19 (15.3 per cent) re-referred and a total of 47 (37.9 per cent) failed.
    Intermediate Stage Module D 37 (29.8 per cent) out of 109 passed, 35 (32.1 per cent referred while 27 (24.8 per cent) re-referred 10 (9.2 per cent) failed.

    362 (19.2 per cent) out of 1,883 candidates in Module E passed, 302 (16.0 per cent) referred while 169 (9.0 per cent) re-referred and remaining 1,050 (55.8 per cent) failed.

    Accounting Technician Level II examinations 31 (25.6 per cent) out of 121 candidates passed, 31 (25.6 per cent) referred and 12 (9.9 per cent) re-referred and 47 (38.8 per cent) failed.
