PRIME Minister Mr Mizengo Pinda has cautioned councillors to carefully verify projects in their locations, regardless of whether or not clean certificates had been issued.

The premier was addressing a district leaders' meeting on Monday, among of whom were councillors and heads of department.

"You should also do your own analysis of the projects, instead of relying on clean certificates alone. District Councils should not get clean certificates while the standard of living is so low," he said.

Mr Pinda urged the councillors to be keen on infrastructural projects since those are the areas where the government has invested massively.

"If you feel that there is foul play in a particular project, do note hesitate to visit the regional commissioner's office and seek help from experts who can re-analyse the project and give you correct information," he said.

The premier cited a case in which he had been given wrong information but when he visited the area, he satisfied himself that something was wrong.

"When I expressed my intention to visit the area, there were excuses. I was shocked to find that only five culverts were built instead of twelve," he said.

Mr Pinda is expected to tour Karagwe District on Wednesday where he will inspect development projects and hold a public rally at Kayanga area. He is also expected to tour Missenyi District on Thursday.
